VOCATIONAL TRAINING IN THE LUXURY HOTEL SECTOR

Vocational training at Frankfurt’s only privately managed five-star Grandhotel is the perfect way to start a promising career. We mentor, encourage and support our apprentices on their path towards the world of work. During their three year apprenticeship in the hotel and restaurant business and the kitchen, our vocational trainees familiarise themselves with all relevant areas of the hotel on the basis of the vocational training master plan of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). That includes the Reception, Housekeeping, Banquet, Service, Kitchen, Sales and Accounting departments.

In addition to the apprenticeships mentioned above, since the summer of 2013 the Grandhotel Hessischer Hof in co-operation with the Frankfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Bergius Vocational School has also offered vocational training as a hotel and catering specialist with a supplementary qualification in management. Since that year, we have been striking out along entirely new paths together with the Tiger & Palmen Group: As of the summer of 2015, for the first time we will be offering vocational training as a hotel and catering specialist with a supplementary qualification in management jointly as a co-operation association. The final examination is taken before the Frankfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) after three years.

Our hotel has developed a special role model in order to assist and mentor our apprentices during their vocational training in a goal oriented and effective manner. Supporting and encouraging them is especially important to us, because as they will be the specialists and managers of tomorrow.

Besides general instruction, our vocational trainees additionally get a comprehensive training programme tailored to their specific vocational training, which prepares them for examinations and competitions in an optimal manner. Among other things, that training and instruction encompasses the following thematic areas: Sales Training, Etiquette, Wine, Aperitif & Digestif, Menu Composition, Front Office Upsell Training, Herbal Know-how, Cash Register Training and Sales & Marketing Training. Furthermore, it goes without saying that contacts from the various areas are available at all times. Many benefits, including for special achievements, ensure additional motivation.
